for such things as general and professional liability
insurance and use of equipment and staff. Western Vocational
Services, Inc. maintains the certifications with such
entities as the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court,
Nebraska Medicaid, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield and Magellan.
It is for this reason WAC is able to access services through

Providing
Alternatives |
|
 |
 |
 |

WAC
provides alternatives to incarceration by offering non-traditional
opportunities that result in offender accountability and
enhanced community safety. WAC has received State of Nebraska
funding that resulted in the implementation of a community
based alternatives to incarceration program that offered
day reporting services, restitution collection, community
service monitoring, life skills training, bad check diversion
programming, counseling and drug testing.
Through the past four years, WAC has had the opportunity
to work with violent and non-violent offenders, male and
female, on probation or parole in a wide variety of capacities.
WAC has worked closely with community stakeholders in
this effort including the Sheriffs office, County Attorney’s
office, Police Department, City Government, Probation
and Parole Officers and County Commissioners in an effort
to build community support and networking. WAC continues
to maintain a very good working relationship with the
local community stakeholders. |

Western
Alternative Corrections, Inc. has developed an Intensive
Outpatient Program designed to meet the needs of a variety
of clients.
It is our mission to provide a program with the necessary
educational tools, counseling opportunities, and interaction
with others to ensure that the client has every available
option at his disposal to facilitate a successful transition
back into society while maintaining sobriety. While the
environment will have its restrictions, we will maintain
a proactive and flexible criterion to encompass a variety
of issues commonly dealt with during this period. Curriculum
includes but is not limited to: |

Our
Intensive Outpatient Program will meet at the following
times and location:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
The first hour of each session will be educational in
nature. A certified staff member will present a program
utilizing lectures, videotapes, and guest speakers on
subjects to include matters such as drug/alcohol issues,
vocational opportunities, and health issues, etc.
Following a break, the group will reconvene for group
therapy and educational work. Reality Therapy
and Rational Emotive Therapy models of
treatment will be utilized in the therapeutic interventions.
Since the vast majority of interfaces with the law are
somehow related to drug/alcohol use and abuse, a heavy
emphasis will be placed on issues pertaining to staying
clean and sober, including 12 step educational material
and lectures, and the benefits of changing previous behaviors,
which resulted in legal ramifications. Certified Alcohol
and Drug Counselor’s will be at the disposal of
participants.
Our Intensive Outpatient
Program will operate on a 6-week rotational
basis covering the aforementioned subjects. While some
material may be repeated occasionally, every session will
be unique, with emphasis placed on the immediate needs
of the group members.
We are confident that the flexibility built into our program
will enable our clients to adjust to challenges in their
lives at a pace suitable and comfortable for them, and
give them the greatest opportunity for success via professional
and peer support. |
