About
Your Week In Jamaica |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| |
From
the time you arrive in Montego Bay, your Destinations
tour will include everything to assure your group the
vacation of a lifetime. Some of the adventures we have
planned for you include the things that your friends told
you they saw while in Jamaica.
We will climb famous Dunn's River Falls, perhaps one of
the most picturesque places in the world.
We'll take you shopping in the famous Straw Market of
Ocho-Rios. A trip up Fern Gully and a stop at Shaw Gardens
is a must on any North shore Tour. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
But
this is just one day, and already you've seen everything
your friends told you about. Now is when your real Jamaica
Holiday begins.
In one day we will take you back over 500 years and visit
New Seville, where Columbus lived for several months.
We will visit a Jamaican family who make their living
farming the mountains and valleys of the Cockpit Country.
We will visit the bustling markets of Brownstown and compete
with Jamaicans to get the best deal on everything from
watches to brooms. Then, on to Orange Valley Plantation,
the abandoned ruins of a 300 year old sugar and lime works,
part of the many plantations that were left to be reclaimed
by the jungle after the slaves were freed in the 1830's.

Getting
To Jamaica |
 |
 |
 |
 |

 |
Getting to
Jamaica is easy. Leaving Omaha in the morning assures
you of a mid-afternoon arrival in Montego Bay. At
the airport you will be met by a Destinations host
and whisked away to your private villa. Actual flight
time is about 5 hours. |

The
entire country is in the eastern time zone. You'll need
to show proof of citizenship before entering Jamaica by
bringing a passport or certified copy of a birth certificate
plus a picture I.D.
Jamaica is about the size of Connecticut. It has mountains
rising nearly 7,500 feet. There is an abundance of rich
wildlife-especially birds, and the climate is tropical.
Even in the dead of winter, the days are in the 80's to
low 90's, and evenings cool down to about 70. Pack lightly,
the villa staff are more than happy to wash some of your
clothing, and the shops sell a great variety of light
tropical wear. Dress is informal and you will not need
an evening jacket or formal wear during your stay.
Communications from the island are only made via collect
person-to-person phone service.
A phone number where you may be reached will be provided
upon booking and confirmation of the villa in which you
will be staying. It is very easy for someone to call you
by simply dialing direct to your villa from the states.
The only legal currency is the Jamaican dollar-but good
old long green from the USA readily accepted. Destinations
will be happy to assist you in changing your U.S. dollars
for "J" dollars when you arrive. |
